Amazon is the winner of the third quarter 1999 DVD Retailer scorecard. Having recently dropped their international postage rates to similar to CDs Amazon take over from Reel as the winner of this category. With connections to their Internet Movie Database, Amazon now provides great prices and good information. Listed below are some individual movie price comparisons.

WARNING: The majority of DVDs sold in the US are Region 1 Encoded and in NTSC Format. Unless you have a Region 1 DVD player (bought in the US) or a Multiregion DVD player these discs will not work. The majority of DVD players and discs sold in Australia are Region 4. Region 4 includes Australia, New Zealand and South America. As a result titles in this region are lacking and many available overseas will not be produced. (eg US 3000 titles, Australia 70 titles at 1 Jan 99.) If you are looking at purchasing a DVD player we urge you to buy a multiregion model so you can purchase a greater range of discs and often discs with an earlier release date overseas. Why not Videos? Although most sites in the US offer VHS tapes, these are NTSC and not compatible with most VCRs in Australia. The sites below do carry videos though.
