MainMusic Retailer Comparison Sanity
Sanity Sanity

Web Site: www.sanity.com.au

When one of Australia's biggest bricks and mortar retails stores goes online one would expect results. While Sanity has delivered a reasonable site it is by no means industry leading.

Sanity has chosen to ship all its goods oredered over the Internet from the US using GlobalFulfillment (the same as Fudge). However all goods may be returned or exchanged at a physical Sanity Store within 30 days. This is a big plus for those who are not quite sure of their purchases.

Sanity's black framed site design is quite poor (albeit slightly better than that of FudgeMusic). The catalogue pages are jammed into the bottom right hand corner of a framed page. If you are working on a 640*400 screen there is not much to see at all. Catalogue searching (done through GlobalFulfillment's servers) is hopeless. Do a search for "smashing pumpkins" or any popular band and you will get multiple pages of results in no particular order. Thus the most recent albumn you are looking for might be on Page 7, while a cassette tape of an import single from Botswana lies on Page 1. In addition Sanity has done a deal with Sydney's 96.1 FM for their Top 40 chart, but the Chart results are not linked to the Catalogue.

The shipping rate is AU $4.91 for any sized order and prices for CD Albumns range from AU $20-29 which is reasonable, though by no means earth shattering and certainly undercut by some of the other merchants.

Note:
Due to the framed design of Sanity's Site, Comp@re is unable to link to any of the internal pages of the site.
